Germany: ISTAF kicks off with little attendance due to COVID restrictions
Berlin's Olympiastadion hosted the 99th edition of the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF), where 3,500 spectators gathered instead of the usual massive 45,000 due to coronavirus safety measures, on Sunday.
"I find them very strict, maybe too strict," one of the spectators said referring to the regulations.
A long-time track and field athletics fan noted that "3,500 spectators at such a big stadium is too little," which makes the world oldest athletic meeting "different, a bit sad."
The event gathers international names like men's pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis, four-time world champion and double Olympic gold medal-winning triple jumper Christian Taylor or 2018 European champion in the 1500 metres Laura Muir.
