Koala joey cuddles with zookeeper for first time in NSW
Symbio Wildlife Park on Saturday released footage of one of its zookeepers Liz cuddling a koala joey called Maddie for the first time, in Helensburgh in New South Wales.
Maddie was born as part of a Koala conservation breeding program. The koala joey is currently eight months old and will now slowly learn to be handled by zookeepers as she becomes less attached to her mother.
Once COVID-19 restrictions are eased, Maddie will be used by the park to help educate school children on the animal, who suffered great losses to their natural habitat following the bushfire season of 2019 and 2020.
