Dark smoke and ash emissions could be seen rising from the New Southeast Crater of Mount Etna on Friday near Catania on the east coast of Sicily.
The dark ash cloud has been caused by the volcano's increased activity, which has been observed during the past few days.
Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe, standing at 3,329-metres (10,900 feet) tall.
