      Mysterious eggs with green yolks puzzle Indian poultry farmer

      A.K. Shiahbudeen, a local farmer in a poultry farm in Othukkungal, went viral when six of his hens started laying eggs with green yolks.

      "We are still not sure how we are getting the green egg yolks. When the researchers visited our farm and checked our hens and eggs, they said it's because the food the hens eat are green. But they are unable to find out what food caused the colour change. We are waiting for the lab test reports," said Shiahbudeen, on Tuesday.

      The local farmer cracked open several eggs with green yolk to showcase the mysterious phenomenon.

      He added however that he did not believe the green colour is caused by the animals' diet.

      "The food is the same we were giving to these chickens from the time we started this farm. We still couldn't identify the food that's giving green egg yolks. I think it because of some genetic changes, otherwise, everyone should get green egg yolks in their farms. I still strongly believe this is because of some genetic change," shared Shiahbudeen.
