It might not be your regular football pitch, but the Pyramids of Meroe in the Sudanese region of Nubia is a setting that matches the jaw-dropping skills showed by professional freestyler Abdullah Emad, as seen on Friday.
Emad tours the world playing freestyle football and recently caught the attention of FC Barcelona, who tweeted a video of him and the Sudanese Minister of Sports.
"As for me, the ambitions are divided into two parts, one is personal where I want to participate in more international championships, achieving more in the game. The other part is working on developing the game in Sudan and spreading it. Therefore, I perform a numerous shows in public places and universities. Also I organise freestyle public tournaments and train the youth from all over Khartoum and other provinces who sometimes come over,” Emad told, adding that has been inspired by Brazilian player Ronaldinho and imitates his playstyle.
The 28-year-old started playing football on the streets of Sudan when he was 8 years old and has been performing in public since 2011. His first gig was at a large theatre at the Omdurman Islamic University, where he graduated in mining engineering.
