Ciudad Juarez gym 'Covid Fitness' allows virus-proof training inside cubicles
A gym in Mexico’s Ciudad Juarez found a new formula to adapt to coronavirus times and avoid contagion.
The gym named 'Covid Fitness' has installed transparent cubicles so that each user can train in their own space with appropriate hygiene and security measures, as seen on Wednesday.
David Rojas, owner of the establishment originally called "Challenge Fitness," confessed that the idea for the cubicles came after his wife sent him to sleep in another room in her house amid fears that she would catch the virus.
Each of the 20 installed cubicles is made of plastic and chipboard. Users must reserve the space in advance online and once on the premises, they are required to follow a series of protection measures.
"Before entering we have to check their feet, we are going to put them on the cleaning trays, we check their temperature as a protocol measure, and we also disinfect their hands with the antibacterial gel, we ask the members not to enter if they do not bring this mask, once they enter the cubicle they can remove the mask,” explained Rojas.
The cubicles are disinfected immediately after use. "Once they finish their exercise, our cleaning team comes in and cleans the cubicles with a solution of water, soap and chlorine and prepares them for the next class.”
According to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, Mexico has registered 159,793 cases of coronavirus and 19,080 related deaths.
