'A special pizza delivery' cheers on health workers battling COVID-19 in Piacenza hospital
Dozens of logistics workers from the city of Piacenza brought a special lunch for the doctors and nurses battling coronavirus inside the city's hospital, as footage filmed on Saturday shows.
The workers, currently unemployed due to the lockdown, delivered fifty pizzas and soft drinks to health workers at Guglielmo da Saliceto Hospital, in a gesture of solidarity to doctors as the city registered over 600 deaths.
"It's really important to stress how for the main part - not everyone, but many - of these workers of Piacenza Si Cobas are migrants who contributed to this action," said former city councillor Carlo Pallavicini, who joined the initiative and praised the workers for responding with 'a great heart.'
Italy, one of the worst-hit countries after the US and Spain, registered
88,274 active cases as of Saturday. The country has reported 15,362 deaths since the start of the epidemic.
