WikiLeaks editor-in-chief Kristinn Hrafnsson lambasted the "totally inadequate" conditions at Woolwich Crown Court, after he was at first prevented from entering the second day of Julian Assange's extradition hearing, in London on Tuesday.

"There are only about 12 or 13 seats available to the public here in the public gallery, when you take into account the seats that are located for his family members. That is unacceptable. This is not a hearing held in public," said Hrafnsson.

Commenting on Assange's extradition, he stated that at the moment his primary concern is whether the whistleblower will get a fair trial in the UK or not.

"That's why I need to be inside and the many observers that have come to try to monitor what's going on here," Hrafnsson concluded.

The WikiLeaks co-founder has remained behind bars in high-security Belmarsh Prison since May 1, 2019, after he was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for breaching his bail conditions to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations. Despite this sentence coming to an end on September 22, a British judge ordered Assange remain in prison while facing extradition to the US, due to his previous history of absconding.

The hearing continues.
