UK: Roger Waters calls for Assange to be spared extradition at London rally

Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters joined activists at a rally in support of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in central London on Saturday, where they called for him to be spared extradition to the US.

The demonstration comes as Assange is due to attend part of his extradition hearing at Woolwich Crown Court in London next week.

"England, I call upon our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to declare his colours, does he support the spirit of Magna Carta, democracy, freedom, fair play, free speech and the freedom of the press?," Waters said addressing the crowd.

He added, "if he answers there questions as yes, then come on prime minister, be the British bulldog that you would have us all believe you are, stand up for the bluster of American hegemony, call off this show trial, this kangaroo court, their innocence before the court is incontrovertible, Julian Assange is an innocent man."

Julian Assange's father John Shipton, was also present at the rally along with former Greek Finance Minister, leader of the European Realistic Disobedience Front (MeRA25), Yanis Varoufakis.
