Israel: ‘Everything will be fine’ – Putin to mother of jailed Naama Issachar

Russian President Vladimir Putin met mother of Naama Issachar, an Israeli citizen serving time in a Moscow prison on drug charges, at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s official residence in Jerusalem on Thursday.

“She was flying through Russia to create a family. I am asking you so much, please, return her home. I am missing her so much and dreaming of hugging her,” Naama’s mother Yaffa Issachar said to Putin.

“I understand. We will talk now. Today Mrs Moskalkova, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, will visit your daughter. She will visit her today. So we will talk about it now,” Putin said.

Following the meeting with Naama’s mother, Putin described the family as “good and decent.”

“Her mom is very worried, I see it. I told her and I want to repeat it again. Everything will be fine,” said the president.

Police detained Naama Issachar on drug charges in April last year while in transit in a Moscow airport and accused her of having 9.6 grams of cannabis in her bag.

She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for drug possession and smuggling in October.
