Switzerland: Davos hit by protests as WEF kicks off
Activists were rallying in Davos as the World Economic Forum 2020 kicked off in the Switzerland resort on Tuesday.
Protesters could be seen chanting songs and carrying signs, with some wearing masks of US President Donald Trump, accused to be a 'climate denier.'
Earlier in the day, Trump announced that the US was joining the green initiative led by the WEF in a bid to conserve one trillion trees worldwide over the next decade.
The announcement was met with scepticism by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who commented that planting trees was not enough in the face of the current climate emergency.
The World Economic Forum 2020 takes place between January 21 and 24, with around 1,500 world leaders set to attend to discuss global, regional and industrial agendas under the theme 'Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.'
