Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said that it is necessary for the countries which are affected by the US sanctions to join forces, speaking in an RT interview in Moscow on Tuesday.

"I think that the sanctions are used as a tool in US foreign policy, and are being applied in the international arena. That is why it is necessary for all countries affected by this system to unite and resist those sanctions," Muallem stated.

He went on to talk about the establishment of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, saying that currently there is a lack of trust among the committee’s members.

“We, firstly, need to define the list of issues that will be discussed by the members of the committee, so that later we will be able to create the basis for establishing trust and start an actual work. But it has not been done yet," said the minister.

Touching upon the issue of military operations in Idlib conducted by the Syrian Arab Army, the diplomat said that all actions are conducted within the framework of the policy defined by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, which are "aimed at liberation of every inch of Syrian Arab Republic’s territory."
