Spain: Catalan independence protesters rally outside players' hotel ahead of 'El Clasico’
Dozens of Catalan independence supporters protested in front of the Sofia hotel in Barcelona on Wednesday, where FC Barcelona and Real Madrid had spent the night before the league match between the two teams later in the day.
"We are supporting our cause, which is the issue of non-violence, the issue of peace, the issue of the freedom of political prisoners and against everything that is happening in Catalonia, which is serious. We are therefore fighting for this. Above all for peace and non-violence,” explained Jordi Serrat, one of the demonstrators.
Footage shows the hotel, the police and the demonstrators. Players from both teams entering the buses to go to Camp Nou stadium to play "The Classic" can also be seen.
Initially, the match was due to be played at the end of October, but was postponed due to the political protests in Barcelona that took place that week.
