USA: House Judiciary Committee approves impeachment article

United States, Washington DC

The House Judiciary Committee voted to move forward with the impeachment articles against Donald Trump after a brief voting session in Washington DC, on Friday.

During the meeting the articles accusing the President of obstruction of Congress and abuse of power were passed to be treated by the House floor, increasing the chances of Trump being the third formally impeached American president if either of the articles gets approved by a simple majority.

Trump's impeachment proceedings were sparked by an official complaint from a whistleblower over a phone call in which Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the son of political rival Joe Biden.
