France: 1,000 tractors invade Paris as farmers protest against 'agri-bashing'

Around 1,000 tractors blocked the ring road of Paris on Wednesday, as French farmers converged from across the country to condemn what they referred to as 'agri-bashing,' as well as the government's agricultural policies and recent international trade agreements.

Tractors were seen driving from the outskirts of the French capital to the Champs-Elysees, occupying the lanes headed towards the Place de la Concorde square. A delegation of farmers was later received at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The action was called by French farmers' unions FNSEA and Jeunes Agriculteurs, who are calling for fair trade agreements and an end to what they perceive as unfair competition from overseas.
