USA: Wilder and Ortiz weigh in ahead of Saturday night showdown
Reigning world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and his Cuban-born opponent Luis Ortiz weighed in a packed room at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Friday ahead of their Saturday night clash.
The 34-year-old Wilder weighed 219½ pounds, almost five pounds more than he officially weighed for their first fight. The 40-year-old Ortiz officially came in at 236½ pounds.
Looking to make the 10th defense of his World Boxing Council (WBC) title on Saturday, Wilder said, "You know as a champion you want to see your opponent look good and look in shape, so when it comes Saturday night I won't have no mercy on him, when I'm ready to do what I do, we know it's coming but we don't know when it's coming, when it comes, bam, baby."
The pair will go toe-to-toe on Saturday, November 23 at the MGM, with over a million viewers expected in the US alone.
