Germany: Stoltenberg calls Berlin 'highly valued NATO ally'
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that Germany is a "highly valued NATO ally" during his speech at the Koerber Global Leaders Dialogue event in Berlin on Thursday.
"Germany has for decades been firmly anchored in our Transatlantic Alliance, which has created the framework for this country's security policy at every critical juncture," said Stoltenberg, before adding "we need a strong Germany at the heart of NATO."
The NATO Secretary-General also recalled the "defining moment" of the fall of the Berlin Wall, 30 years ago, by saying "that night, we were all Berliners."
"Like many others, I was glued to my television set, holding my son who was just a few minutes old in my arms. This truly felt like a new beginning," he continued.
Stoltenberg concluded with a message for today's generations to "continue their fight, so that the next generation can face the future with confidence."
