
Chile: Two policewomen suffer severe burns from Molotov cocktails
Two female police officers suffered severe burns to their faces after being struck with Molotov cocktails on Monday in Santiago's Plaza Italia.
The events occurred at the conclusion of a mass demonstration titled "super monday".
Interior Minister Gonzalo Blumel criticised the attack as "cowardly."
According to local media, the two injured women are María Hernández Torres and Abigail Aburto Cárdenas, members of the Carabineros, Chile's police force.
According to the Chilean Prosecutor's Office, 23 people have been killed since the protests began. The National Institute of Human Rights, meanwhile, has registered 1,659 people injured and 4,364 detained, according to a November 4th report.
