Lebanon: Beirut residents celebrate PM Hariri's resignation
Dozens of people gathered in Beirut on Tuesday to celebrate Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's resignation.
Footage shows people chanting and clapping at the city's Martyrs' Square after the announcement was made by Hairiri a few minutes earlier. Later, an ambulance is seen arriving at the protest and paramedics seem to be assisting an injured person.
Over the last weeks, Lebanon has been gripped by mass protests, believed to be the country's largest since 2015, as demonstrators took to the streets to voice their discontent with deteriorating living conditions, austerity measures, capital flight and the rise of the deficit and public debt.
