
Argentina: Macri thanks supporters as he concedes defeat in presidential election
Argentinian President Mauricio Macri thanked his supporters at a rally in Buenos Aires on Sunday as he conceded defeat in the election to his rival Alberto Fernandez.
"I invited him to breakfast tomorrow at the Casa Rosada [presidential palace] because he has to start a transition period," said Macri from stage.
Macri received just over 40 percent of the votes, according to the latest results, while Fernandez secured more than 48 percent. The transition of power is set to take place until December 10.
