Austria: Burning building demolished to extinguish Linz waste disposal fire
Firefighters had to demolish part of a waste disposal company near Linz airport in Austria to put out a fire after an explosion injured nine on Thursday.
"The building consists of three halls, whereby two halls were totally destroyed and now must be torn down in order to reach the source of the fire. A hall could be preserved. The scale of the damage is currently unknown," said police spokesperson Sascha Baumgartner, who added the cause of the fire was still unknown.
The airport's flight schedule was not affected by the explosion, but residents near the fire were asked to close their windows because of the smoke.
