
Russia: UEFA president compliments ‘perfect’ St. Petersburg ahead of Euro 2020 *EXCLUSIVE*
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin praised Euro 2020 host city St. Petersburg and it’s Krestovsky Stadium in an interview in Nizhny Novgorod on Wednesday.
Ceferin said Russia’s northern capital was “absolutely ready” to host matches at next summer’s tournament.
He also explained that St. Petersburg was chosen as the host city for the 2021 UEFA Champions League final “because we know it can be a great experience”.
He added that it was important for different countries to host international matches for better revenues and development of the game.
St. Petersburg is one of 12 cities that will host games at the Euro 2020. The tournament will be held from June 12 to July 12 in 2020.
Russia’s national football team faces Scotland at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Thursday in a match which could see the Russians book their place in next summer's tournament.
