Hong Kong: Masked protester punches Beijing supporter in face
A Beijing supporter was attacked by a protester who punched him in the face after he yelled, "We are all Chinese," in Hong Kong on Friday.
Footage shows the man, an office worker who declined to share his name, yell "We are all Chinese" to the press before walking towards the entrance of a building where he was stopped by a masked protester and repeatedly punched, including once in the face.
"That man is trying to protect his identity of being a Chinese, or a man from China. But instead, we all know why Hong Kong is suffering for this kind of situation, it's because we are not only [oppressed by] the government but also the Communist Party," said another protester after the incident. "He's protecting the government who is attacking his own citizens."
Hundreds of thousands have taken part in protests against a bill that would have enabled extradition to mainland China since the end of March and despite the bill being withdrawn, protesters continue to hit the streets to call for other demands to be met.
