USA: 'Chinazi' flag unfurled as dissidents picket Chinese embassy
Dissidents brought out the same 'Chinazi' flag seen at the Hong Kong protests during a picket outside the Chinese embassy in Washington DC on Sunday
Images of the so-called 'Chinazi flag' - an altered version of the Chinese flag with the yellow stars arranged to form a swastika and with a hammer and sickle placed in the centre, had been used to promote the event.
"This flag accurately describes what China is under Xi Jinping. He is a Chinazi - China Nazi. Fascism with Chinese characteristics. We are all against it. We step on this flag to show our determination to end this regime and its rule in China," said dissident Yang Jianli, who was incarcerated in China between 2002 and 2007.
Members of various opposition groups came together to show solidarity with anti-government protesters in Hong Kong, the weekend before the People's Republic of China (PRC) celebrated its 70th anniversary.
