
Russia: Walrus attacks boat of Northern Fleet expedition members
Footage released on Sunday, shows how a walrus attacked a Russian Navy rubber boat in the Arctic Ocean.
On September 18, the Russian Geographical Society reported that a collision between a walrus and expedition members occurred during a landing at Cape Haller in the Arctic, Franz Josef Land archipelago.
After the walrus attack, that the Russian Geographical Society suspects "was afraid for its cubs," the crew immediately called for help.
“Serious troubles were avoided thanks to the clear and well-coordinated actions of the Northern Fleet officers, who managed to take the boat away from the animals without harming them,” the Russian Northern Fleet commented.
