
Germany: Munich ramps up security as 186th Oktoberfest kicks off
Police and other security personnel were deployed as the 186th Oktoberfest in Munich kicked off on Saturday.
Road blockades and fences were set up and K9 units checked the tents and beer gardens as paramedics stood by.
Dressed in the traditional Dirndls and lederhosen, ladies and gents had lined up in front of the venue and later rushed inside as soon as the doors opened.
Oktoberfest is marked annually from mid-September to mid-October and is attended by millions of people from around the world.
