Germany: Thousands evacuated as police discover 450 kg WWII bomb near Nuremberg airport
Up to 9,000 Nuremberg residents were evacuated on Thursday as police found 450 kg bomb not far from the airport.
Police cordoned off the place of discovery up to a radius of 1km, forcing several road closures.
The bomb, despite being inactive for decades, still had an active double mechanical detonator. Experts successfully managed to extract the explosive and later defused it safely.
