UK: Boris Johnson branded 'father of the lies' at Supreme Court hearing

The second day of the UK Supreme Court hearing over Prime Minister Boris Johnson's decision to shutdown parliament for five weeks took place in London, on Wednesday.

Attendees were seen leaving court, with dozens of protesters gathered outside.

The hearing was marked by Aidan O'Neill QC's speech, who represents a group of cross-party MPs appealing against Johnson's decision of suspending parliament in the run up to the Brexit deadline.

O'Neill defined the Prime Minister as "father of the lies" and urged judges to reject the government's appeal against a ruling by Edinburgh's Court of Session, which defined that parliament suspension unlawful.

The hearing will be resumed on Thursday, with a verdict expected Friday at the earliest.
