Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said world leaders should step in and mediate between his country and India regarding the recent tensions over Kashmir. Khan made the remarks during an exclusive interview for RT in Islamabad on Wednesday.

"I feel that this situation is explosive," said Khan. "These 8 million people put under curfew, all the rights tonight, God knows what happened there. For all we know, there are these RSS gangs going in there and picking up people, killing people. They've done that in the past."

"There's nothing Pakistan can do. You know, there is no relief we can send there, the borders are closed. Secondly, the only thing we can do is approach the international community," said Khan, adding that Pakistan would "knock on every door" to seek solutions to the issue.

"Clearly, it is not a bilateral issue. They've made it into a unilateral issue. So the only way is if, you know, of course, the United States, Russian President, Prime Minister Putin, he is a powerful man, he is a big voice in the world. President Xi of China," Khan stated.

Khan said that he never imagined that he would be thinking in terms of a nuclear war. "I repeat -- this is very serious. This could all go very wrong, this conflict between Pakistan and India, simply because, you know, we are two countries with nuclear weapons. And that's why I think that it is big incentive for the world to step in now," he added.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have skyrocketed since New Delhi revoked Article 370 of the Indian constitution, stripping Jammu-Kashmir of its autonomous status, imposing a curfew and shutting down all communications. The act led to Pakistan cutting off diplomatic and economic ties with India.
