USA: Booker, Castro and Yang rally at debate after-party in Houston
Democratic presidential candidates Senator Cory Booker, Julian Castro and Andrew Yang rallied along with their supporters at the Democratic presidential debate after-party in Houston on Friday, hosted by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
Castro and Yang put forward their key policies to their supporters during the rally with Castro touting his new immigration plan and Yang putting forward his proposal for universal basic income.
"We're putting out the first immigration plan. Even when some people said 'hey why are you doing that, they're going to think that all you care about are Latino issues', I said I don't care, I'm going to stand up for those people," Castro said.
Yang stated that the increase in automation among retail, fast food and logistics jobs will lead to unemployment and that his proposal for a universal basic income of $1,000 (€900) a month is the most logical option.
The third Democratic debate took place on Friday, with all major candidates in attendance. According to recent polls, the three frontrunners in the race to become the Democratic presidential nominee are former Vice-President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren.
