The International Atomic Energy Agency's acting chief said he had urged 'timely' cooperation from Iran to try and salvage the nuclear deal with world powers. Cornel Feruta briefed journalists about his trip to Tehran at a news conference in Vienna on Monday.

"I emphasized the importance of full and timely cooperation by Iran. It is important to advance our interactions, and therefore I also stressed the need for Iran to respond promptly to agency questions related to the completeness of Iran's safeguards declarations. We will continue our efforts and we will remain actively engaged. I also highlighted in the board of governance that time is of the essence," said Feruta.

Feruta added that the relationship between the agency and Iran allowed to discuss of 'all issues.' "Sometimes, of course, we need to express for more, and to pace up probably, but I think that the message was very well understood back in Tehran, and as I say, the visit was very timely to have the chance to go through a number of issues with the Iranian authorities," said Feruta.

The IAEA acting chief also said that the evaluations of the absence of undeclared nuclear activities in Iran 'remain ongoing.'
