Locals gathered to cheer on MMA fighter and hometown hero Khabib Nurmagomedov in Makhachkala on Saturday, as he faced off with Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.

Men of various ages seen jumping out of their seats, cheering, and applauding as the live broadcast is showed in the Rossiya cinema in the city centre.

Nurmagomedov defeated Poirier and retained his UFC lightweight world title and his undefeated streak of 28-0.
