Australia: LGBTQ activists protest against religious bill in Melbourne
Members of the LGBTQ community and their supporters took to the streets of Melbourne on Saturday, to protest against a government proposed religious bill which they fear would allow discrimination against them.
Footage shows demonstrators marching and chanting on the streets, as they wave rainbow flags and carry signs against the proposed bill.
"This bill is just one piece of the effort to try to grind us down", said Debbie, one of the protesters.
"What rights, what's going to be taken away from me next? Or, you know, sometimes you don't feel safe," said another protester, Alison.
The proposed bill reportedly has provisions that stop employers from limiting the religious expression of workers in private, which, as some fear, will give more rights to believers thus negatively effecting the LGBTQ community.
