Colombia: Puerto Rican contestant crowned Miss Gay International at Bogota drag pageant
Bogota hosted on Saturday the annual Miss Gay International event, the most important drag contest in the country which sees candidates come from different corners of Latin America, as well as countries around the world, with participants from Jamaica, Zimbabwe or the Philippines, among others.
Puerto Rico was the winner of the 19th edition of the contest that took place in the Theatron hall, and in which a total of 22 candidates took part, parading in bathing suits and ball gowns, amongst other costumes.
Footage shows the contestants preparing behind the scenes, as well as their performances on stage, demonstrating their talents to the public and judges.
As the organisers of the event point out on their website, Miss Gay International's objective is "to rescue and exalt the art of drag, giving it a more relevant place in the Gay scene".
In addition to winning a prize of 3,000,000 Colombian pesos (798 euros / 887 dollars) the queen will participate in special events as the face of the contest.
