
Russia: Military planes continue battle against Siberian wildfires
Russian Defence Ministry's Il-76 military transport aircraft continued their operation tackling vast forest fires in the Krasnoyarsk region on Friday.
The ministry reported that the planes made 26 flights dropping a total of over 1,000 tons throughout the day. It also said that its special task force managed to put out more than 60 fires .
According to Russia's Aerial Forest Protection Service (FSA), more than 3 million hectares of forests were on fire across Siberia with some of the worst affected areas in the regions of Yakutia, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk.
