China: Chinese, Cuban FMs vow to 'play constructive role in Venezuelan issues'
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi re-affirmed Beijing’s support for the Venezuelan government and vowed to stand by Cuba against “outside interference,” during a joint press conference with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in the Chinese capital on Wednesday.
Wang said that the two had agreed during talks that unilateralism and hegemonism were “overwhelming the world,” and that threats to sovereignty in the form of “unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction” were unsatisfactory.
The US ramped up sanctions on Venezuela and Cuba earlier in the month.
"Both China and Cuba will enhance communication with other countries, territories and the international community. We will continuously play a constructive role in Venezuelan issues," he continued.
Rodriguez arrived on Tuesday for an official two-day visit to China.
