European Parliament President Antonio Tajani held a press conference following the Informal Summit of Heads of State or Government of the European Union in Sibiu, Thursday.
Tajani said that the EU institutions need reforming, mentioning the European Parliament, saying that it has to have the right of legislative initiative, with the right of scrutiny and inquiry also needing to be reinforced.
He also added there will be an increase of MP numbers for some countries after some seats will be freed after Brexit.
The summit focused on future challenges and priorities for the EU, with some attention reportedly given to the Brexit process and discussions about European unity. The meeting took place two weeks before the 2019 European parliamentary elections.
