Libya: Misrata forces prepare for battle as clashes continue in southern Tripoli
Misrata forces, who are loyal to Government of National Accord (GNA), were filmed loading weapons and preparing for battle in the Salah al-Din area, south of the capital Tripoli on Tuesday.
"Now we are in Salah al-din, in front of Yarmouk's camp, God willing we'll win over the enemy", said one of the troops on the ground.
Misrata forces are continuing their counter-offensive against forces loyal to eastern commander Khalifa Haftar, in response to the offensive of eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA) launched in April against Tripoli.
The five weeks of clashes in Tripoli's outskirts led to a stalemate on the ground, causing at least 432 dead and 55,000 displaced, according to the UN.
