Local man takes self-built 'monocycle' for a spin in northern China
Inspired by his favourite movie Men in Black 3, a young man from Qian'an, in China's northern Hebei Province, designed a motorcycle with a single-wheel to copy the 'monocycle' from the 2012 sci-fi blockbuster.
Footage filmed on Tuesday shows the giant-wheeled 'monocycle,' which comes without brakes and requires the driver to use his feet to stop.
“The disadvantage of this motorcycle is that it has no brakes, which would cost a lot of shoes. If I add the brake system on it, I can save a lot of shoes,” designer Lei Yuan said.
Though still in progress, the "sci-fi racing bike" is capable of driving at 40-50km/h (25-31miles/h) and spinning around on the spot.
