South Africa: EFF opposition party holds final rally before elections
Thousands of people gathered at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday to participate in the left-wing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF)'s final rally ahead of the country's general elections.
The event took place at the same time as the final rally of the ruling African National Congress (ANC). Footage shows supporters waving the party's flags and holding posters with the face of Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema, as they chanted throughout the stadium.
South Africans will head to polling stations on May 8, with media citing polls which indicate that the ruling ANC is expected to win the elections with 55 percent of votes, while the main opposition party Democratic Alliance (DA) is expected to secure 22 percent. As the second largest opposition party, the EFF is expected to garner between 10 and 13 percent of votes.
