Venezuela: Guaido supporters gather at military bases demanding army support
Supporters of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido gathered in front of military barracks throughout Caracas on Saturday, demanding the Bolivarian National Guard join their cause.
Footage shows protesters facing a line of state security forces near the military detachment of the presidential residence in the El Paraiso area of central Caracas, as well as in a separate location in the east.
Guaido called for his supporters, via Twitter, to "mobilise in a civil and peaceful way" at their closest military base, days after a failed attempt to oust President Nicolas Maduro on May 1.
The country has been in political crisis since January 23, when Guaido declared himself president in a move now recognized by over 50 countries including the United States.
