Libya: Misrata forces and Haftar’s loyalists continue clash in southern Tripoli
Clashes continued between Misrata forces, aligned with the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) and led by Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj, and forces loyal to LNA commander Khalifa Haftar in the Ain Zara district of Tripoli on Wednesday.
Footage filmed on Thursday shows Misrata forces on a rooftop exchanging fire with LNA forces.
Almost all the buildings in the area are empty and were damaged in the past weeks.
The LNA, which controls eastern Libya, is aiming to take over territory from the UN-backed GNA, including the capital. The country has been split between the two rival sides since 2014.
