Aurus Senat Cabriolets were taken for a test drive at Moscow’s Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) prior to their participation in the Victory Day Parade, as shown in footage released on Tuesday.

The Senat Cabriolet, the latest car produced by the Russian luxury manufacturer Aurus, is understood to be based on the Aurus Senat S600 sedan, with the difference being the convertible folding roof.

Aurus project leader Aleksandr Lebedev said that 90 percent of the components used in the car are “designed for this car.”

He went on to say that the companies occupying “leading positions in the production of automotive components” are involved in the production process in order to “get exactly the product that we want to get.”

Executive Director of the NAMI, Sergei Maev, expressed his utmost confidence that Aurus cars will be the “beginning of a new era” in Russia’s domestic automobile industry.

The Aurus Senat Cabriolet will reportedly make its debut at the Moscow Victory Day Parade on May 9, as Russia marks the 74th anniversary of Nazi Germany's official surrender to Soviet forces.
