      Spain: PM Sanchez warns against far-right coalition in final rally

      Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez closed his campaign by warning supporters against allowing a right-wing coalition to take office.

      That possible government would be formed by the right-wing Popular Party (PP), centrists Ciudadanos and newcomer Vox, a far-right nationalist party.

      During his final election rally in Valencia's Parque Central, Sanchez accused those parties of "embracing the frightening far right."

      "The danger [of far-right government] exists and is real. It is very real. Everybody wrote off [Donald] Trump becoming President of the United States. He is now. Nobody thought [Jair] Bolsonaro would be President of Brazil and he is," he added.

      The incumbent is hoping to increase the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party's (PSOE) number of seats, although he is likely to face coalition talks after a tight election race. Opinion polling indicates that no single party will win an overall majority, with all five leading contenders having a chance to enter government.
