Sudan: Protesters keep up pressure on military leaders in Khartoum
Tens of thousands of people protested in front of Sudan's defence ministry in Khartoum on Friday, as part of an ongoing protest requesting a transitional civilian-led government after a military coup toppled former President Omar al-Bashir on April 11.
Demonstrators demanded an end to the military council's rule and a transition to civilian rule after Al-Bashir's ousting.
The military council said on Thursday that it would allow civilians to form the government, but it would hold on to presidential powers. Three officials from the 10-member group resigned in protest on Wednesday.
The opposition and the council had previously agreed to set up a joint committee to find a political solution, but so far no agreement has been reached.
