Fed up with government inaction, Kenyan man builds needed local road himself
After local villagers’ continuous calls for a new road proved futile, Kaganda resident Nicholas Muchemi took it upon himself to dig a road for his neighbours, footage from Wednesday shows.
Using a hoe, spade and axe, Muchemi has been clearing the road by cutting, digging and levelling through the thick bush on his own.
"The government should take responsibility and complete this road because we know the government has allocated money for this road," said Muchemi who has been reportedly building the road for free.
Villagers have been already using the road to commute to a close-by shopping area.
"We used to go through someone's land but the owner closed the route and warned to take action against trespassers," said a local.
