Germany: AfD kick off EU election campaign by 'declaring war' on 'Brussels technocrats'
Alternative for Germany (AfD) launched its campaign for the European Parliament elections by holding a rally in Offenburg, Baden-Wurttemberg on Saturday.
Among those who spoke were the party's leader Alexander Gauland, AfD Federal Executive Board member Guido Reil and AfD candidate for EU elections Jorg Meuthen.
"Not the French and their Marine Le Pen, not the Austrians and Heinz-Christian Strache, not the Hungarians and Viktor Orban and not us, Germans from the AfD, drive Europe into a ditch, but the technocrats in Brussels. And we declare war on them," said Meuthen.
The European parliamentary elections are set to take place on May 26.
