Venezuela: Maduro calls for 'national dialogue' as thousands rally in Caracas
Thousands of people took to the streets of Caracas on Saturday to show their support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Dressed in red, they marched through the streets of the Venezuelan capital to the presidential palace, where they were addressed by the country's leader.
Speaking to the crowd, Maduro made a new call for peace negotiations.
"With the support of Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay and the Caribbean, Venezuela can set up a national dialogue with all political, cultural, economic and social sectors," he said. "I’m calling for a national dialogue."
At the same time, another mass rally took place in Caracas, with thousands gathering in the east of the city to hear opposition leader Juan Guaido speak.
