Greece: Refugees recoup after fierce fighting with police breaks out
Emergency services began a clean-up operation at a refugee camp near Diavata, some 10km (6.2mi) outside Thessaloniki, on Friday, following scuffles between police and migrants.
Hundreds of refugees arrived in a field near the camp with hopes of travelling north but police forced them back to stop them breaking a cordon and heading towards the North Macedonia border.
Scuffles broke out as a result and the migrants could be seen recouping in their tents around camp fires following the clean-up operation in the area.
Some refugees held up banners requesting urgent help from authorities before they attempt to travel further north.
