Syria: Venezuela and Syria have 'same enemy' - Venezuelan FM Arreaza
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem said that the US administration is lying about the withdrawal of American troops from Syria, during a joint press conference with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza in Damascus on Thursday.
"It became clear for everyone that the American administration is lying. They say: 'We will withdraw,' at some point, then they say: 'We will not withdraw,' later on. Then they say: 'We will keep some forces in.' It's not the duty of Syrians to teach them how to say the truth," Muallem said.
Referring to the conflict with Israel over the occupied Golan Heights, the Minister said the US's attempts to give sovereignty to Israel are "increasing US isolation even from its closest allies."
"Our right in occupied Syrian Arab Golan will never be imprescriptible, it is a constant right, as the land is holy, and every extent of our occupied Syrian lands will be liberated," he added.
In an apparent reference to the US, Venezuelan Minister Jorge Arreaza said Venezuela and Syria have "the same enemy."
"Only the US government repeats continuously, does not rule out a military intervention against Venezuela. They say every day that when it comes to Venezuela all options are on the table. We don't know which one is this type of table where the option of dialogue is not present," he added.
